Up for grabs is a Rolex Day-Date President in 18kt yellow gold
2.90 mil serial number circa late 1970 production
Excellent vintage condition case with strong lugs and fully intact numbers.
Dial is original, pie-pan “Wide Boy” with correct wide hands. All tritium plots are intact with nice orange patina. Date disk with open 6’s and 9’s.
Caseback on this watch is interesting. The outside shows no personalization or engraving. The inside is stamped with normal 1803 and hallmarks, but then also stamped with a name and date. Please note this name and date are stamped inside of the caseback, not just engraved there and also the font style of numbers and the letters are similar/same as the factory stamps of 1803 and Rolex hallmarks. Doing very brief research, the only matches that came up were a politician in Bangladesh with that name who joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 1980 and perhaps they had an special order from Rolex and these watches were given out as gifts or such. This is all just speculation and guesses, I am putting no premium at all on value of this watch as there is no provenance of solid proof.
Bracelet is original Rolex president in tight for its age condition, 4/70 date code, correct “53” end-links.
No box or papers. No documented service history.
